I had my doubts about how well this would work in real life, but Ive been very happily surprised. It gave me very accurate pitches at every lug on my toms and even read the bass drum accurately, which I really didnt expect. The way the lug measurement part of the program works, it gives you the baseline frequency of the first lug and then tells you how far above or below that pitch each succeeding lug is, and numbers each one as you go around the drum. The beauty is that it gives you a visual representation of when a pair of lugs is off, or which end of a pair needs to be adjusted. It still requires some interpretation, of course, and depending on how and where you hit the drum head you can get wildly differing pitches. But that has more to do with the complexity of drumhead overtones and vibrations than with the program. With a little practice and some care, I was able to get consistently usable readings every time. And the drums sound better than I have ever been able to achieve before. I just cant say enough good things about this app.
